ABOUT LITTLE BRIDGES GLOBAL

Helping families make sense of change

Life does not always move in straight lines.

Families move countries. Parents separate. Children change schools. Relationships shift. A parent may become less available because of work, distance or circumstances. A child may suddenly begin asking questions about where they belong, who they are, or why everything feels different.

Some changes are planned. Some are not.

And even when adults understand why a change had to happen, children may experience it very differently.

Little Bridges Global was created to support families through those in-between places — the moments when life has changed, but everyone is still trying to understand what comes next.

WHY LITTLE BRIDGES GLOBAL EXISTS

Sometimes, when a child is struggling, the advice given to parents is very simple:

Give it time.

They will adjust.

Try to stay positive.

Children are resilient.

Sometimes that is enough.

But sometimes it leaves parents feeling even more confused.

Because what happens when your child does not seem to be adjusting?

What happens when behaviour changes after a move, a separation or a difficult period at home?

What happens when a child says they are fine, but everything about them tells you otherwise?

Or when a parent is trying so hard to hold the family together that they no longer know whether they are helping, overprotecting, pushing too much or not doing enough?

Little Bridges Global was created for those questions.

Not to tell families that there is one correct way to move through change.

Not to promise that difficult emotions can be removed.

But to help children and adults understand what may be happening underneath the surface — and to find practical ways of moving forward without losing connection with one another.

WHY “LITTLE BRIDGES”?

A bridge connects two places.

Sometimes those places are physical.

The country a child has left and the country they are learning to live in.

Sometimes they are emotional.

The life a family had before a separation and the life they are trying to create afterwards.

Sometimes they are internal.

The person someone learned they had to be and the person they are beginning to realise they can become.

Little Bridges Global is built around the idea that these transitions rarely happen all at once.

We cross them in small steps.

Through understanding.

Through steadiness.

Through relationships.

Through belonging.

Through actions that make the next day a little easier than the one before.

That is where the name comes from.

The bridges may be little.

But sometimes the smallest bridge is the one that helps us reach the other side.

WHO WE SUPPORT

Little Bridges Global is not built around one type of family or one kind of transition.

The wider purpose is to support children, parents, families and the professionals and organisations around them when something important in life is changing.

That may include:

Families moving between countries

International relocation can affect every member of a family differently.

A parent may be focused on housing, schools, paperwork and starting a new job while a child is quietly grieving friendships, routines, familiar places or a sense of home.

Little Bridges Global helps parents understand that adjustment is more than simply “settling in”.

Families experiencing separation or change

When parents separate, children are not only adapting to a new practical arrangement.

They may also be trying to understand changing relationships, loyalties, routines and emotions they cannot yet explain.

Parents themselves may be rebuilding at the same time.

Support therefore needs to recognise both the adult and the child.

Children navigating identity and belonging

Some children grow up with more than one country, language, culture or version of home.

That can be incredibly enriching.

It can also create questions.

Where do I belong?

Which place is really home?

Why do I feel different here?

Why do I miss somewhere that I also wanted to leave?

Little Bridges Global treats those questions as meaningful rather than something a child simply needs to “get over”.

Neurodiversity and transition

Not every child experiences change in the same way.

For children with different sensory, emotional, attentional or regulatory needs, transitions can create additional pressure.

Little Bridges Global takes an individual approach: trying to understand the child in front of us rather than assuming that one strategy will work for everyone.

Families affected by parental absence or pressure

Sometimes the transition is less visible.

A parent may be physically present but overwhelmed by work. Another may live in a different country. Family roles may shift because of illness, employment, separation or circumstance.

Children often notice more than adults realise.

Understanding how these changes affect connection and security can help families respond earlier and more thoughtfully.

School and social transitions

A new school, a friendship loss, a different language or simply being “the new child” can affect confidence and belonging.

These experiences can look small from the outside and feel enormous from the inside.

OUR APPROACH

A parent listening to a child

Little Bridges Global is psychologically informed, but it is also practical.

Understanding theory is useful.

Parents still need to know what to say at bedtime.

They need to know whether to encourage a child to join the new activity or give them space.

They need language for difficult conversations.

They need ways to respond when their child says:

“I hate it here.”

“I want to go home.”

“Nobody likes me.”

“I don't want to talk about it.”

And adults need support too.

Sometimes the most helpful thing is not another piece of advice.

It is finally understanding why the same belief, fear or relationship pattern keeps appearing — and what might change when it is understood differently.

Little Bridges Global therefore brings together several strands:

psychological understanding;

research-informed guidance;

lived international and family experience;

one-to-one therapeutic support;

practical tools for everyday family life;

resources designed for parents, children and young people;

future support for schools and organisations.

THE LITTLE BRIDGES APPROACH

The work is guided by five simple ideas:

Understand → Steady → Connect → Belong → Act
01

Understand

Before trying to change behaviour, understand what may be happening underneath it.

02

Steady

Change is easier to navigate when there is enough emotional safety, predictability and support.

03

Connect

Relationships matter enormously during transition.

A strong connection can become the familiar place a child returns to when everything else feels new.

04

Belong

Belonging cannot be forced.

It develops through relationships, memories, participation and time.

05

Act

Understanding matters, but insight becomes most useful when it leads to practical action.

Understand. Steady. Connect. Belong. Act.

These principles shape the way Little Bridges Global thinks about families, resources and support.

HOW LITTLE BRIDGES GLOBAL SUPPORTS PEOPLE

One-to-one support with Žana

For adults who want to understand and work with deeper beliefs, emotional patterns, confidence, boundaries or difficult life transitions, Little Bridges Global offers one-to-one support with founder Žana Barros Da Silva.

Žana works using Rapid Transformational Therapy and provides support in English, Lithuanian and Russian, online and in person in Lithuania.

Resources for families

Sometimes a family does not need therapy.

They need information they can trust.

Little Bridges Global creates practical, research-informed resources to help parents and children better understand what is happening during important transitions and what they can do next.

The first major publication is:

The First 90 Days

A Parent Guide to Helping Your Child Thrive After Moving Abroad

The book focuses on the first weeks and months after an international move, helping parents understand their child's adjustment and respond with greater confidence and sensitivity.

Additional resources for children, teenagers and parents are being developed over time.

Support for organisations

Families are surrounded by systems.

Schools.

Employers.

Relocation teams.

Professionals.

The quality of support around a family can make an enormous difference to how a transition is experienced.

Little Bridges Global is therefore being developed not only for individual families, but also for organisations that want to support them more thoughtfully.

Future work may include resources for international schools, employers, HR and Global Mobility teams, relocation organisations and other professionals working with transitioning families.

FOUNDED BY ŽANA BARROS DA SILVA

Little Bridges Global grew from the meeting point between professional learning and personal experience.

Žana spent many years living outside Lithuania and has experienced first-hand how moving countries, changing family circumstances and questions of identity and belonging can affect both adults and children.

Her interest in these subjects developed further through her psychology studies at Klaipėda University, academic research into child development and related areas, and her training in Rapid Transformational Therapy through the Marisa Peer Academy in London.

The purpose of Little Bridges Global is not to turn Žana's personal story into the answer for somebody else's.

It is the opposite.

Her experience taught her how different every family's story can be — and how important it is to listen before assuming we know what someone needs.

GROWING WITH FAMILIES

Little Bridges Global is being built as a long-term international platform.

The aim is to continue developing:

psychologically informed family resources;

books and workbooks;

support for parents;

resources for children and teenagers;

professional collaboration;

school and organisational resources;

support for internationally mobile families;

future resources in additional languages.

The organisation will grow, but the principle behind it will remain the same:

to help people feel more understood during the moments when life feels least familiar.
